Jerome's World of Music & Dance
Swing Dance Classes
Have you ever watched Strictly and envied the couples spinning around the floor so effortlessly? If you love the thought of dancing with a partner, but have never tried it out, why not join my Beginner’s Jive and Swing course?
You will learn to dance using basic steps, which when used in sequence will give you the ability to dance with a partner to music, from the 1940’s and 1950’s, or with the feel of that era.
The course runs for one hour each week over a period of four weeks, and is aimed at people who have had no or very little dance experience. You will learn new steps and dance moves each week, and build up your skills, so that by the end of the course, you will have the confidence to dance socially with more than one partner.

What’s the Shim Sham?
The Shim Sham started as a late 1920’s tap routine often danced at the end of musical shows. The routine originated at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, where a group of lindyhoppers did the shim sham as a group line dance without the taps. The well known swing dancer and choreographer Frankie Manning introduced his version of the shim sham most commonly danced at swing dances today.
